Abstract

The existing developments in information technology have led to enormous changes concerning the entire humanity. A similar transformation took place in Europe soon after the invention of Gutenberg’s printing press in the second half of the 15th century, and almost every aspect of social life was affected to a great extent. Turkey has been suffering the plight of a-two hundred and seventy five year delay at the printing press, which had considerable impacts on carrying Europe to the Industrialization through the Enlightenment and thus leading it to its position at present. In this study, while the outcomes of this delay are dealt with regarding the events took place after the printing press in Europe, it is also emphasized that the misguidance of the past be understood in earnest in order to reach a bright future.
