Abstract

In this paper, research methods used in social sciences. Especially in librarianship are examined. Qualitative and quantitative research methods are compared. Differences between the two approaches are pointed out along with the strenghts and weaknesses of each methodology. The characteristics of qualitative research methods are examined in detail. Major content analysis studies that evaluate the use of both quantitative and qualitative research methods in Turkish librarianship are summarized.
