Abstract

Recently, investigations upon e-government applications and the right to access information had given rise to legal developments. The most important of them is the Law Pertaining to Rights for Information Access being promulgated in 2004. The underlying aim of the law is to provide private persons and legal entities to get the related government services in a more correct, standardised, fast ways-and-means under equal rights. Actually, ever since the applications had started according to the Law, a sharp increase in public interest in accessing information had been registered, as can clearly be viewed from the yearly reports of Turkish Grand National Assembly. The study attempts to analyse the mentioned increase, as well as the rising interest of international organisations to Turkish egovernment activities.
